MADISON, Wis. — The UW-Madison Police Department is actively asking people to avoid the area of Johnson Street and Wisconsin Avenue due to reports of a man with a knife in the vicinity.

A BadgerSAFE WISC Alert was sent out around 8:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Police have not released a description of the man or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
