Firebrand Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene is once again calling for the seven year prison sentence of disgraced congressman George Santos to be commuted, citing his conditions in solitary confinement.

MAGA Republican Greene, known for her inflammatory comments about the LGBTQ+ community, previously urged US president Donald Trump to end Santos’ imprisonment , describing his sentence as “excessive”.

After becoming the first out gay politician to be expelled from US Congress in December 2023, Santos, 37, pleaded guilty to 23 federal felony crimes including aggravated identity theft and wire fraud in August 2024.

In April of this year, he was sentenced seven years and two months in prison by US district judge Joanna Seybert and ordered to pay $578,753 (£430,184.21) in restitution
