A man has pleaded not guilty to the violent assault of trans woman Nikki Armstrong in Renton, Washington.

Armstrong spoke to PinkNews following the attack , which occurred on 15 September at around 8:20pm in the 200 block of Burnett Ave S. She said she no longer feels safe in the US, adding that “Trump has all but greenlit this type of violence”.

Ranmore Edwards, 25, pleaded not guilty to assault and hate crime charges relating to the case.

He’s being held on a $300,000 bail after prosecutes cited public safety concerns. He will be back in court next month, as reported by MyNorthwest.

Edwards turned himself in after a member of his family convinced him to do so after recognising his photo on Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.
