A British man has been found dead while cycling in Gran Alacant, a popular holiday destination near Alicante. The incident occurred yesterday morning on Mediterranean Avenue, a busy road close to Carabassi Beach, a well-known scenic spot.
Emergency services, including local police and Civil Guard officers, were dispatched to the scene. Despite their efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the location. Witnesses reported that he had not been involved in a collision with a vehicle and had fallen off his bike while ascending a hill.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, with local reports suggesting that he may have suffered a sudden health issue. Civil Guard officers were seen removing the cyclist's Cannondale racing bike from a grassy embankment adjacent to the road.
It remains unclear whether the man was a local resident or visiting the area on holiday. This incident follows a series of cycling-related tragedies involving British nationals abroad. In April, Phillip Williams, 39, died during the Mallorca 312 amateur race after a fall, despite attempts by emergency responders to save him. Additionally, a 54-year-old British woman was seriously injured in a cycling accident in Majorca in May.
