MT. VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS) is set to host its annual Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historical Village in Mt. Vernon.

Dana Uhls, JCHS Community Relations Specialist, said, "This is going to be a big festival! We have several new vendors and activities. Free stuffed animals will be given to children in our pet adoption area." Uhls added, "Blackberry Hollow will provide a giant pumpkin, and children can guess the weight for a chance to win a prize.
