IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The owners of multiple Iowa City spas are each facing numerous charges after investigators uncovered a $2.6 million money laundering and prostitution operation.

According to court documents, husband and wife Zhenshi Liu and Junping Ren owned Paradise Spa locations on 1st Avenue and Broadway Street.

During an investigation, investigators interviewed multiple men after leaving the spas. Those men admitted to receiving sex acts from workers, including Ren, during their massages. Others said workers offered them sex acts in exchange for more money.

Investigators also talked with the workers who said they work seven says a week from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The workers said they were paid $70 an hour, with $40 going to Liu and Ren and $10 going to “room and board.” Ac
