ALEDO, Ill. (KWQC) - The superintendent of Mercer County Schools and two district employees are facing charges after police said they illegally accessed students’ medical records.

Aledo police were investigating a complaint that Mercer County School District employees were illegally accessing students’ medical records, according to a media release.

Police searched Mercer County High School in Aledo and the district office in Joy and took electronics on Wednesday, officials said.

Two district employees, 41-year-old Amberly Norton of Aledo and 41-year-old Andrea Long of Aledo, were taken into custody, police said.

Police learned a third person had also gotten access to students’ medical records and took superintendent Timothy Farquer, 53, of Williamsfield, into custody.
