Following a brief police chase, two women are facing several charges in connection with the discovery of two children under the age of 10 who were alone on the side of a road in the province's Côte-Nord region.

Authorities found the two children on Monday at around 3:30 p.m. on the side of Road 138 in Les Bergeronnes, Que.

The women charged are from Forestville and Sainte-Hyacinthe, respectively.

Two hours after finding the two children, and 100 kilometres further, police recognized the vehicle of the two suspects.

Following a chase, they were stopped and arrested in Saint-Irénée, in the Charlevoix region, about 100 kilometres south of where the children were found.
