KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kalamazoo say they arrested a teenage boy who was wanted on weapons charges and then found stolen guns in the apartment.

Detectives learned Monday that the boy, age 16, was inside an apartment on the 1,300 block of Fox Ridge near Alamo Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. They were also told that young children could be present inside the apartment.

Officers found the teenager and took him into custody, KDPS said.

"A slow, methodical process was used to ensure the safe removal of the children," the department wrote in a release.

Police said when they searched the apartment, they found multiple stolen guns.
