LA JOLLA – A groundbreaking fitness experience using electrical pulses to stimulate muscle contraction, now available in La Jolla, is changing how people view strength training.

FireSnake Fitness recently opened its fourth location in the new Broadway Salon Studios at 1150 Silverado St., Studio 206. The modality employs electromyostimulation via FDA-cleared Miha Bodytech II equipment.

With EMS, electrical impulses are generated by a device and delivered through electrodes on pads adhering to the skin near the muscles being stimulated; those impulses mimic the action potential that comes from the central nervous system, causing the muscles to contract.

It can also be used as a rehabilitative and preventive tool for people who are partially or totally immobilized.
