East Lothian locals were left awestruck as they were treated to a glimpse of a military helicopter on Tuesday afternoon.

A Chinook was spotted making its way through East Fortune on September 23, around 4pm.

It could be heard from a distance away and reportedly circled the National Museum of Flight four times before heading for the capital.

The footage was captured by one local, who claims the fly-past was involved in RAF training.

He said: "It landed at East Fortune's runway twice, then circled the museum four times before heading towards Edinburgh."

The Chinook has been operational with the RAF for over 40 years and can carry up to 55 troops or up to about 10 tonnes of cargo.
