METAIRIE, La. —

A prime piece of real estate that was damaged in Hurricane Ida in 2021 in Old Metairie is back on the market.

The developer who was awarded the deal to reimagine the high-rise condo complex on Metairie Road says he will turn the project over to another developer.

Darren Aschaffenburg says the financing never came together.

In a written statement, he told WDSU:

"After an exhaustive attempt, I just wasn't financially strong enough to secure the development financing. so it was time to cut bait. However, on a positive note, we have spent the last 18 months putting a fantastic package together. Therefore, the buyers can hit the ground running on this exciting build and quickly get the property back in commerce.
