Bob Broder , the respected talent agent who ran the prosperous Broder Kurland literary agency for nearly 30 years before seguing to head Chuck Lorre Prods., has died after a battle with cancer.

Broder died on Sept. 23, surrounded by his family, the Broder family confirmed Wednesday.

Broder represented some of the most influential showrunners and directors of the past 50 years, including James Burrows, Chuck Lorre, “Modern Family” co-creator Christopher Lloyd and “Cheers” co-creators Glen Charles and Les Charles. He was a respected elder statesman in the industry. He was known as a tough negotiator on behalf of his A-list clients, and also for his deep sense of personal business ethics.
