LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Four people were taken to the hospital and two remain in critical condition after what Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette says was a "serious" crash in Liberty Township Wednesday morning.

The sheriff's office reports that at around 7:21 a.m., deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of South Meridian Road and Wetherby Road in Liberty Township.

According to investigators, a black 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 52-year-old man from Hillsdale, was traveling south on Meridian Road when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with another vehicle. That vehicle was a silver 2009 Mercury Mariner, with a 47-year-old woman from Cement City, an 18-year-old woman, and three juveniles inside.
