A busy Scottish road was brought to a standstill on Wednesday afternoon after a two car collision.

The Daily Record reports the crash left three people needing medical attention as ambulance and fire crews scrambled to the scene just after 2.50pm.

The incident took place on the A92 between Crossgates and Cowdenbeath.

A picture from the scene shows ambulances, a fire engine and cars sitting stationary on the dual carriageway. Another image shows a grey Vauxhall Corsa and a white Seat Ibiza.

It's believed at least six firefighters and two police officers were called to attend the incident.

Pictures were posted on social media, on the Fife jammer locations Facebook page.

One was titled: "Dunfermline to Cowdenbeath at a standstill, fire brigade on site".
