GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -The Florida Board of Education is sharply criticizing Alachua County School Board member Tina Certain after a social media post referring to conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a “31-year-old uneducated white boy” who has been “glorified.”
During a tense meeting on Wednesday, state leaders said the post is part of what they see as a growing pattern of misconduct and unprofessionalism from Alachua County Public Schools leadership.
“This has risen in my view to crisis level,” Ryan Petty said at the start of the discussion.
State officials pointed to prior incidents, including a controversial post from the board’s chair earlier this year, as evidence that the district has repeatedly been referred to the state for corrective action.
