The National Transportation Safety Board in a newly released report said that a Zanesville tractor-trailer driver’s “inattention” led to a fatal November 2023 crash with a charter bus that killed six people and injured 18 others in Etna Township .
In a news release, the NTSB said it found that Jacob D. McDonald’s inattention and failure to respond to the traffic queue, among other factors, contributed to the crash. On Nov. 14, 2023, McDonald was driving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 when it hit an SUV in front of him and a charter bus carrying 54 students and chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools.
