A new community art installation will be featured at the Emporia First Friday Art Walk on Oct. 3, with Wichita artist and educator Kate Pepper leading the project.

The installation, sponsored by ESB Financial, will be located on the east side of White Memorial Park at 6th Avenue and Merchant Street. The Gazette Collective will serve as the presenting venue for the Emporia First Friday Art Walk.

Pepper, known for her large mosaic installations, owns and operates The Art Park with her husband, Charles Baughman. She also runs a marker and crayon recycling program in Wichita and incorporates 90% discontinued tile samples into her work.

The project consists of 10 mosaic-covered columns of varying heights, spaced 36 inches apart to be ADA accessible. The Emporia Community Arts Alliance select
