MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEVV) — A Madisonville woman died Wednesday after being hit by a driver.

Police say it happened just before 11 a.m. in the area of North Main Street and Ayr Parkway.

MPD says a driver was headed down the road when 37-year-old Kristy Padilla entered the roadway from the west and went into the southbound lanes of traffic.

Police say the driver was unable to avoid hitting Padilla.

Citizens and officers at the scene provided life-saving measures, and Padilla was taken to a local hospital. She was later flown to an Evansville hospital, where she passed away from her injuries.

No other details were immediately released.
