AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - On Wednesday, a celebration was held for a new multi-metal recycling plant in Augusta, which will help with U.S. data and AI centers, U.S. energy infrastructure and the defense industry.

It was the “First Melt” celebration at Aurubis Richmond on Mike Padgett Highway.

S.C. small businesses can get federal aid for flooding damage

The clock is ticking for South Carolina businesses and nonprofits still recovering from severe flooding last November to apply for federal disaster assistance.

Congressman Rick Allen and the CEO of Aurubis spoke at the event about how this can help the community.

It will make metals like copper, nickel, tin and zinc recyclable. It’s a part of an $800 million investment in the area.
