The Erie Philharmonic introduced a new key member of their orchestra this season.

The ensemble welcomed their new concertmaster, James Thompson.

Thompson comes from Cleveland with experience involving classical symphonies. He was even featured on the 2025-2026 Hanes Erie Pops Series along with other musical programs.

The chamber orchestra conducted a year-long search nationwide to find the best fit after their previous concertmaster, Ken Johnston, stepped down after years of dedication to the organization.

Bobby Pape, executive director of Erie Philharmonic, said, "We can stream things on Spotify, we can watch things on YouTube, but there is nothing quite like the warmth of having music wrap around you, especially in the theater like the Warner."
