A 2-alarm brush fire broke out near Estecadea on Tuesday afternoon, burning 8 acres before firefighters got the blaze under control.
The fire started around 3:30 p.m. near Oregon 224 and Fall Creek Road, the Estacada Fire District said in a statement.
When firefighters arrived, the fire had grown to more than an acre and was rapidly spreading through grass and brush in the area, prompting officials to sound a second alarm, fire officials said.
The Clackamas and Colton fire districts, as well as the Oregon Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service, responded to help — a total of 50 firefighters on 14 engines and 11 water tenders showed up to fight the brush fire.
