Mark Byington and his Vanderbilt men’s basketball program are in the midst of a scorching September on the recruiting front.

The Commodores landed their third four-star recruit in the last three weeks Wednesday, when point guard Anthony Brown announced his commitment to the school, choosing Vandy over Maryland, Indiana, Tennessee, Memphis, Villanova, Syracuse and Texas Tech, among others, per Rivals .

The 6-1, 170-pound Brown is ranked the No. 49 overall prospect in the nation’s 2026 class by ESPN, the No. 70 prospect by 247Sports and the No. 93 prospect by Rivals. Brown is also listed as the nation’s No. 14 point guard by Rivals.

Vanderbilt previously this month gained commitments from 6-9, 240-pound center Jackson Sheffield from Hoover, Ala., and 6-6, 215-pound forward Ethan M
