CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A company is celebrating the completion of a $60-million project in Cabell County that started in 2023.

The eye care company Alcon held a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning for the official opening of its expanded facility in Lesage.

The project includes a 65,000 square foot expansion of its manufacturing site along state Route 2.

Company officials said this will allow them to produce intraocular lenses more efficiently. Those lenses restore sight to cataract patients all over the world.

“We have over 500 dedicated associates here in Huntington who produce millions of IOLs each year,” Candace Childers, Alcon’s Huntington general manager and VP, said.
