An Assonet man has been charged with embezzling more than $15,000 from a parent teacher organization in Lakeville where he served as treasurer, officials said Tuesday.
Zachary Granville-Wilmot, 43, was summonsed to court on charges of check forgery, uttering a false check, embezzlement over $250 by an association member, and conspiracy, the Lakeville Police Department said in a statement.
Another man, 41-year-old James Granville-Wilmot, also of Assonet, was also charged with conspiracy, police said.
The family relationship between the two men was not immediately clear.
Authorities said the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization reported to police on Aug. 22 that the group was missing funds.
