GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Attorney General’s Office is encouraging qualifying counties, cities and townships to sign up to get a piece of a $720 million national settlement from opioid drug makers.
The settlements are the result of lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies Mylan, Hikma, Amneal, Apotex, Indivior, Sun, Alvogen and Zydus, who have agreed to pay $720 million to municipalities across the country. In Michigan, 279 units of government are eligible, including 16 counties in West Michigan and 47 cities and townships. The full list of eligible local governments is available on the Attorney General’s website.
The AG’s office can help fill out the participation form, which is due by Oct. 8.
