TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK)-- A New Boston woman who was found guilty of mailing threatening letters containing a fatal toxin to President Obama and other politicians is attempting to reduce her prison sentence.
Shannon Guess Richardson was arrested on June 7, 2013, after sending letters addressed to former President Obama, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and former politician Mark Glaze containing ricin, which is a biological toxin containing sodium hydroxide and can be fatal if ingested or inhaled.
In 2014, Richardson was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a toxin for use as a weapon.
