ST. CHARLES — A group of St. Charles residents on Wednesday launched an effort to oust St. Charles Mayor Dan Borgmeyer following his handling of a now-scuttled data center proposal and a controversy over a possible sale of city parkland.

The group formally began the recall drive by filing required paperwork with the city clerk's office.

"We share a common concern over many issues including the data center," said Olivia Cross, one of five city residents on the recall committee.

"We are concerned over a lack of transparency and accountability within the city of St. Charles, particularly in the office of mayor."

The petition, however, doesn't mention the data center or parks issues.
