TYLER, Texas (KETK)-- The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department recently earned recognition from the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) for meeting law enforcement best practices and standards.

The best practice standards are designed to help agencies deliver services efficiently and effectively, minimize risk and safeguard individual rights.

To earn the accreditation, the department underwent a review of its policies, procedures, facilities and operations, followed by a submission of proof of compliance with standards for an independent review. Members of the department were also interviewed before earning the accreditation.
