Virginia State Police said a blown tire on a pickup truck caused a fatal crash in Henrico County on Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers responded at 1:40 p.m. to a report of a crash on southbound Interstate 295, near the 26-mile marker, which is about a mile north of the Pocahontas Parkway.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the pickup experienced a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control. The truck then ran off the road, overturned, went over a guardrail and landed on some train tracks below.
The driver was the only occupant of the truck, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are working to identify the victim.
