MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board approved a proposal for middle school wrestling to be included in their budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. However, some board members expressed concerns over the new sport.

Many teachers, parents and administrators came forward to speak about the positive aspects of putting wrestling into schools. Several shared personal stories about the benefits of sports for kids not only athletically, but mentally. Some board members said there’s been a very large demand for wrestling in the community, and it’s a great investment to help increase academic performance.
