CLEVELAND — The May death of a Cuyahoga County Jail inmate is now being investigated as a homicide , officials confirmed to 3News on Wednesday.

Records from the county medical examiner identify the victim as 39-year-old Tasha Grant, of Cleveland, who at the time was in custody on various misdemeanor charges. On May 2, she was transported from the jail to MetroHealth for what was believed to be "preexisting medical conditions that resulted in a medical emergency." She died at the hospital three days later.

According to the medical examiner, Grant's cause of death was ruled to be a homicide by "physical restraint in the setting of congestive heart failure." The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department is now investigating, but authorities have offered no further details on what might have ha
