SUFFIELD, Ohio — Officials say an evacuation order has been lifted in Suffield Township following a "major" gas leak Wednesday night.
The Suffield Fire Department wrote on Facebook that the leak originated from a natural gas well, and indicated that a car crashed into the line. Residents were asked to avoid Palm Road between Saxe and Randolph Roads as crews worked to find a way to shut off the gas, as the vehicle was sitting on top of the vales that would ordinarily be used to turn it off.
Around 11:45 p.m., fire officials confirmed the leak had been isolated and the area was now safe to return to. Members of the Environmental Protection Agency are expected to be on scene tomorrow to examine the situation.
