SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A 46-year-old convicted felon marked his ninth arrest this year after he vandalized two businesses, Spokane Valley Police (SVP) said in a release .

SVP said they first responded on September 22 to a business on E. 1st Avenue after an employee reported a man, later identified as Tony Gust, 46, shattering a drive-thru window.

Armed with a 24-inch knife, investigators said Gust was acting erratically. Deputies de-escalated the situation, and Gust was detained.

Gust was booked into the Spokane County Jail, but due to overcrowding, he was released shortly after, SVP said.

Less than four hours later, investigators said Gust caused over $6,500 in damage at a business on W. Summit Parkway.

At his first court appearance on September 23, Gust’s bail was set at $36,500.
