SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- The Siouxland Gem and Mineral Society will host its two-day 57th Annual Rainbow of Gems Show this weekend in South Sioux City.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cottonwood Inn & Conference Center, 4401 Dakota Ave. The show features exhibits, dealers, a silent auction and door prizes. Admission is free.
At noon on both days of the show, Dr. Pat Saulsbury and Brian Fernando, of High Plains Paleontology, will discuss paleontology and their recent work on new fossil finds.
Saulsbury, who practices small and exotic veterinary medicine and is co-owner of Siouxland Animal Hospital, has been digging in the Hell Creek and White River Formations for over 30 years.
