A 55-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges after a violent home invasion left a victim with significant injuries early Tuesday, police say.

After receiving several 911 calls from a person requesting help in the area of Elm Street, officers arrived around 4:20 a.m.

They found the front door of a home forced open and damaged, but the residence was empty, police said.

A short time later, officers located the victim, who had visible injuries and was confirmed as the home’s resident.

The victim told police they were awakened by “ the sound of the door being forced open before being violently assaulted.”

The victim sustained “significant injuries” in the incident, police said.
