HIGHFILL, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The city of Highfill approved the agreement with the Northwest Arkansas National Airport over its detachment from the city.
The airport's board of directors and the Highfill City Council approved a memorandum with the city that sets a definitive timeline for ending city taxation on XNA's customers. That timeline will end in December 2030.
XNA says the agreement will ensure full repayment of Highfill's bonds.
This is exactly what we tried to do a year ago, on the same deal. This just puts the city of Highfill's future in the city's hands, not somebody else's," said Highfill Mayor Chris Holland.
