SALLISAW, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — The cleanup continues for Northeastern Health System Sequoyah after the hospital was hit by severe weather that blew part of the roof off the building.

Eric Carter, with Northeastern Health System, says he has experienced severe weather before, but never anything like this. On Tuesday, a quarter of the hospital's roof was blown off, forcing staff to evacuate 12 patients. No injuries were reported.

"No, patients got hurt, so everybody got transferred out accordingly. Since then, we were able to get electricity back to the hospital about 11 p.m. last night," Carter said.

Carter says that after power was restored, crews began clearing debris and preparing rooms for patients, allowing hospital operations to continue.
