KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen Independent School District is actively recruiting candidates for its next superintendent, with search consultants promising an open and transparent process as the district works to address accountability concerns and declining enrollment.

David Thompson, a partner with Thompson and Horton LLP law firm, and Mike Moses, former Texas education commissioner and former Dallas ISD superintendent, spoke out about the search process. The pair, who have been assisting school boards for about 25 years, stressed their role is to facilitate rather than dictate the hiring decision.
