WACO, Texas — The City of Waco announced Tuesday the groundbreaking ceremony for its newest community park, Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park.

The public is invited to take part in the ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at 3113 Clay Avenue.

The park is slated to turn 30 acres into a community destination for gathering, play and connection, according to city officials.

With a $25 million investment, the new park is expected to feature a playground, lawn and community pavilion as well as interactive fountains and sports courts and an all-wheels course, all of which is intended to foster a inclusive park experience.

Additionally, the City of Waco said the new look park will include various colors, diverse vegetation and unique amenities and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
