The Youngstown State women's basketball team is eager to improve on last season's 12-19 record.
Second year coach Melissa Jackson has nine players back and three new additions.
"We're probably further ahead in some areas than we were last year," said Jackson who has one true freshman and two transfers new to the roster.
"I'm happy where we are but we still have a long way to go," said Jackson adding its a credit to the nine players returning for believing in the system.
One of those additions is sixth year senior Casey Santoro. She spent three seasons at Kent State and spend the last two seasons at Florida Gulf Coast, where she helped the Eagles to 30 wins and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The Penguins open the season, Monday, November 3 hosting Thiel.
