TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Sunnyside Football picked up a signature win over Mica Mountain, the reigning 4A state champions.

The Blue Devils held Mica Mountain to just 10 points, the Bolts' fewest since 2023.

Junior defensive back Ismael Martinez's ball hawking abilities were a difference maker. He made two huge plays to swing the momentum in Sunnyside's favor. Both came in the second quarter.

He forced a fumble and recovered the ball with just over four minutes left in the quarter. On the Blue Devils' next defensive drive, he had an interception. That set up a touchdown to give Sunnyside a 14-0 lead at halftime.

There's actually a funny story behind that pick. Martinez told New 4 Tucson he studied the play on film all week and called it out during practice. But...
