NEW ORLEANS — A 49-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection to the , according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Police said Wallace Gilmore, was taken into custody in the 3000 block of Freret Street. He faces one count of second-degree murder.

The arrest follows a shooting reported just before noon Monday, Sept. 22, in the 2700 block of LaSalle Street. When officers arrived, they found 59-year-old Willie Lemar Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital by EMS and later died.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office confirmed Lemar's identity and determined he died from gunshot-related injuries.
