MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — Several churches in the Morristown area held a prayer memorial to honor political activist Charlie Kirk and reflect on the meaning of community on Tuesday evening.

Dean Haun, the senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Morristown, was one of the organizers of the event. Haun said people from both sides of the political aisle attended the memorial, which he estimated drew around 500 people.

He said the attendees processed sadness, fear, anger and more during the faith-guided program. While the feelings were painful, working through them as a group was essential, he said.

"I think when you begin to talk about tragedy and you begin to talk about things like this, it brings healing," he said. "It gives people the opportunity to heal."
