WASHINGTON — The historic Jelleff Recreation Center in Georgetown is set to undergo a long-anticipated $28 million renovation, marking a major milestone for a facility that has served District youth and families for generations.

"For decades, it's been a place for working parents to be able to work in peace knowing that their kids will be taken care of after school," said Kishan Putta, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for ANC 2E. "My own son is going to the Jelleff after school program right now."

Wednesday night, neighbors gathered to hear updates on the project from DC Parks and Recreation (DPR) and other project leaders. They also got see new renderings of what the upgraded center will look like.

The Jelleff Center is a community center, but also home to the Boys and Girls Club
