ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Some local businesses have moved into new retail space at the historic Imperial Motel in east downtown Albuquerque. The Hispano Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon on Wednesday on the Imperial Shops.

This grand opening comes more than a year after developer Palindrone completed a major renovation at the motel along Route 66. "We are so grateful to be here today with the grand opening, and I'm glad to see other businesses have joined in this community," said Jennfier Sandoval, Jennifleurs Flower Shoppe.

The original Imperial Motel dates back to 1959.
