AHMEDABAD: A man allegedly set his wife and mother-in-law ablaze at a beauty parlour in Kubernagar area of Ahmedabad on Wednesday over a domestic dispute. The wife, Jaya (32), succumbed to her injuries during treatment, while her mother, Shobhana, was battling for life at Civil Hospital with over 70% burns. According to Sardarnagar police, the accused, Ashok Rajput, arrived at Usha Beauty Parlour—owned by Jaya's aunt Usha Redhani —with a can of kerosene. In a fit of rage, he allegedly doused Jaya and Shobhana with the inflammable liquid and set them on fire before fleeing. Rajput himself sustained burns and is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, where police are keeping watch on him.
