MURRAY – At its monthly meeting Wednesday, the Calloway County Fiscal Court honored two beloved community members who died recently, as well as another who has stepped down from the Board of Elections after more than a decade of service.

Mark Kennedy died on Aug. 15 at the age of 77. Reading from the resolution passed by the court to honor his life and service, Calloway County Clerk Antonia Faulkner called him a veteran public servant, coach and community leader who faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 12 years, including a three-year tour in Vietnam. He earned numerous Medals of Honor and two Purple Hearts, “demonstrating courage, commitment and an unwavering devotion to protecting the freedoms and values we hold dear,” Faulkner read.
