A significant section of the M60 has been closed this morning following a serious collision. The incident has led to traffic being held on the clockwise carriageway between junctions eight at Carrington and nine at Urmston.

National Highways confirmed that the closure was necessary due to the severity of the crash. As a result, vehicles are being diverted locally, but heavy traffic is building on the approach to the affected area, particularly during the busy morning rush hour.

At 07:26, Elizabeta Ranxburgaj reported long queues forming on the M60, specifically between junctions nine and ten. The situation has prompted National Highways to advise drivers to follow local road signs indicating diversion routes.

The agency stated that the M60 is closed clockwise between junction six at Sale and junction nine at Trafford Park due to the serious incident. Traffic management measures are in place to assist drivers navigating the diversions.
