A MAN has been released from prison nine months after he was arrested in a roadside stop in Tamworth with a relative who has admitted the gun in the car was his.
Kane John Smith-Croft had charges of possessing a shortened 12-gauge shotgun dropped in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday, September 24.
He waved to family members in court as he watched the sentencing proceedings from Mid North Coast prison where he was being held.
The now 28-year-old has been in custody since he was arrested in a roadside stop with co-accused Tre Douglas Smith-Croft by the Oxley Proactive Crime Team about 9.30am on December 12, last year, on Warral Road, in West Tamworth.
Police had alleged he was in possession of a shortened 12-gauge shotgun , but the charge was dropped, along with an offence of acquiri
